Foreword: This book contains the proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Computer Supported Education (CSEDU 2019), which was held in Heraklion, Crete, Greece from 2 to 4 of May 2019. CSEDU 2019 was organized and sponsored by the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication (INSTICC). The conference was held in cooperation with ACM SIGMIS - ACM Special Interest Group on Management Information Systems, ACM SIGITE - ACM Special Interest Group for Information Technology Education, SADE - Swedish Association for Distance Education, ASEE - American Society for Engineering Education, ATIEF - Association des Technologies de l'Information pour l'Education et la Formation, ABENGE - Associação Brasileira de Educação em Engenharia, ITD CNR - Istituto per le Tecnologie Didattiche, IELA - The International E-Learning Association, ICDE – International Council for Open and Distance Education and SPEE - Portuguese Society for Engineering Education. CSEDU has become an annual meeting place for presenting and discussing learning paradigms, best practices and case studies that concern innovative computer-supported learning strategies, web-based distance learning, e-learning, technology-enhanced learning, and institutional policies on computer-based learning. CSEDU 2019 provided an overview of the state of the art in all of these areas, outlined upcoming trends, and promoted discussions about the educational potential of new learning technologies in the academic and corporate worlds. This conference brought together researchers and practitioners interested in methodologies and applications related to the education field. It had six main topic areas, covering different aspects of Computer Supported Education, including “Artificial Intelligence in Education”, “Domain Applications and Case Studies”, “Information Technologies Supporting Learning”, “Learning/Teaching Methodologies and Assessment”, “Social Context and Learning Environments” and “Ubiquitous Learning”. We believe these proceedings demonstrate new and innovative solutions and highlight challenging technical problems in each field. CSEDU 2019 received 202 paper submissions from 48 countries, of which 19% were accepted as full papers. The high quality of the papers received imposed difficult choices in the review process. To evaluate each submission, a double blind paper review was performed by the Program Committee, whose members are all highly qualified independent researchers in the CSEDU topic areas. The conference was complemented with a special session entitled: Analytics in Educational Environments - A2E (chaired by Ana Azevedo, CEOS.PP-ISCAP/IPP Portugal). The high quality of the CSEDU 2019 programme was enhanced by three keynote lectures, delivered by experts in education and educational technology, including (alphabetically): Waqar Ahmed (Lincoln University, United Kingdom), Michael Baker (CNRS, France) and Maria Roussou (University of Athens, Greece). The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by DBLP, Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (ISI), EI (Elsevier Index), Scopus, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar. All presented papers will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library. Furthermore, a short list of presented papers will be selected and their authors will be invited to submit an extended version of their papers to be included in a forthcoming book of CSEDU Selected Papers to be published in CCIS Series by Springer Verlag. The best contributions to the conference and the best student submissions were distinguished with awards based on the best combined marks of paper reviewing, as assessed by the Program Committee, and the quality of the presentation, as assessed by chairs at the conference venue. The winners will be shown on the conference website along with the winners of the previous editions of the conference, available at http://www.csedu.org/PreviousAwards.aspx. Building an interesting and successful program for the conference required the dedicated effort of many people. We would like to express our thanks to all participants. First of all, to the authors, whose quality work is the essence of this conference. We would also like to express our gratitude to all members of the Program Committee and auxiliary reviewers, who provided their expertise and valuable time. Furthermore, we thank the invited speakers for their invaluable contribution and for taking the time to synthesize and prepare their talks. Finally, we gratefully acknowledge the professional support of the INSTICC team for handling all organizational issues. (More)
